I stopped after that, due to aforementioned feeling of being a bit invasive. I think had I known you at that point, I would have beat you over the head with a big stick labeled YOU ARE NOT ALONE for a while. My own self-esteem was shocking, for a lot of the same reasons- feeling very different to those around me.
I got very lucky at one point when I got invited to a smallish birthday party with a group of people who are still my friends. God only knows how they tolerated me at the time xD (one of those people was Maggie, who you've met)
